Beyond the Narthex
An activation from the altar involving prepared and generative video with hand made electronic noise generators.

Part 1. Mains Hum: Visitors enter to the accompiament of a rich textural hum. Large electrodes are inserted into the ground, the resulting signal is amplfied and sonified to reveal the nature of the pervasive electromagnetic energy normally hidden from perception. This signal sonified is part of the electrical energies of the church ground itself. 10 min duration

Part 2. Prepared Video: a light controlled oscillator array is activated by prepared video projection. Sound and image are locked in tight immediacy ranging from slow ambient change to hyper-intense strobing. Perhaps not suitable for certain types of epilepsy. Around 10 min duration

Part 2. Performance: A range of hand made electronic contrivances based on simple D.I.Y. circuits produce an interplay of sounds ranging from the melody-like through to machinic-industrial. Deep bass. Radiophonic sounds through simple handmade radio transmitters. All sound created live. Sound accompanied by large scale generative video projections created by the direct transmutation of sound into image via simple analog circuitry. 30 min duration.
